<li class="MsoNormal" style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Backup the database from the old host and import it to the new host. Pay attention to database names, user names, and DB password.</span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Change your wp-config.php in the old host in order to point to the database on the new host. “i.e <strong>local host to newhost.com</strong>” Your web site will run using database based on the new hosting provider. Every change in your website will get reflected in new hosting provider’s Database. (You may want to check with your new hosting if they allow outside database access first. If not, you can skip this step and transfer the whole site content and DB to the new host, Test them by using ip. For example <strong><a href="http://newhostip/~username/">http://newhostip/~username/</a></strong> will take it your content in the new host)</span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Backup your entire WordPress installation from the old site (this will include all your uploads, themes, plugins)</span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Unpack your WordPress installation to the new      site</span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Change wp-config.php DB source to <strong>local host</strong>.      Even without changing them site will work.</span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Change the nameservers to point to the new site</span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">That&#8217;s all now you only need to wait for DNS      propagation <img src='http://www.hexahost.com/blogs/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Your website will be active through old content and new DB till it gets full propagation, after complete propagation your website will be active from new hosting provider. Since nameserver propagation can take up to one day, step 2 allows you to have up to date database at the moment it happens. Downside to this is slower site response in the meantime because site still runs from the old server and the database is on the new. But if you do this over the night or periods of low traffic it won&#8217;t be that noticeable and you will not lose any comments or other activity on your site.</span></p>
<p>Above stated steps can be use for any website, provided you should know which file controls your DB name and place. For Wordpress it is wp-config.php.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>HAPPY</strong></span> <strong>HOSTING</strong>!</p>

A known fact is, it is tough to identify a Hosting provider, who is not offering hosting plans consists of more than100GB Disk space and more than 1 Tera bytes of traffic per month. Some companies are even offering Unlimited Disk space, Unlimited Bandwidth (Transfer), Unlimited Data Base, and Unlimited email Accounts plans. But in a real world example, Is there some thing called Unlimited? When unlimited is unknown, the smallest positive integer 0 as well as the giant number googol is part of it. Our objective is to explain the simple</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">characteristics of web hosting with real world examples. Is the magic word <strong>“UNLIMITED”</strong> simply a hyped marketing strategy by the hosting providers or is it a false claim? This document is neither the answer nor the explanation to such questions. May be, I should advice Technology officers of Google to take a service from one such Unlimited hosting provider to offer all their web services. Jokes apart let us talk about Real time Hosting characteristics with facts. So here we go,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The objective is:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span>a)<span> </span></span>How much disk space you really need?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span>b)<span> </span></span>How much traffic you really need?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span>c)<span> </span></span>How many database you really need?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Before we derive the answers to those questions, let us take a real world example with two years of web history, with decent amount of hits, and with average No of users.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Our sincere thanks the webmaster of www.thalanaagaram.com and the owner of swargam.net for the stats. We appreciate your participation.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Hosting account name:</strong> <a href="http://swargam.net/">http://Swargam.net</a></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Web domains hosted in this account:</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span>1)<span> </span></span><a href="http://swargam.net/">http://swargam.net</a>/ – Personal blog on wordpress platform</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span>3)<span> </span></span><a href="http://suryan.fm/">http://suryan.fm</a>/ – FM Technology blog on wordpress platform (inactive now)</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span>4)<span> </span></span><a href="http://thalanagaram.com/">http://Thalanagaram.com</a>/ – Joomla CMS website, SMF forum, Chat site, Image gallery, and streaming audio and video hosted site.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Out of the above sites, <strong>Small size example:</strong> <a href="http://simba.in/">http://simba.in</a>/ is an active personal blog with few hits a day and <strong>Mammoth example:</strong> <a href="http://thalanagaram.com/">http://thalanagaram.com</a>/ is an active fan club site for a south Indian cinema actor Mr. Ajithkumar. Thalanaagaram.com has more than 9000 registered users and more than 15 Million site hits in the last two years.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Below mentioned figures are the actual web stats reports of swargam.net (includes thalanagaram.com and other listed sites)</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span>Now Let us discuss the Facts:</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Disk space allotted by the hosting provider: 150,000 MB</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong> FACT: Disc space used in the last two years: 1315 MB</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong> </strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong><!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shape  id="_x0000_i1028" type="#_x0000_t75" style='width:405pt;height:246pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\Users\sify\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_image007.jpg" mce_src="file:///C:\Users\sify\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_image007.jpg"   o:title="disk" /> </v:shape><![endif]--><img class="aligncenter" style="border: 0px initial initial;" src="http://hexahost.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/gtf-4.jpg" border="0" alt="" width="491" height="358" /><span> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong> Bandwidth/traffic allotted by the hosting provider:<span> </span>15000000 MB / Month</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong> FACT: Peak bandwidth used in last two years: 12917.72 MB</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><img class="aligncenter" title="GGTF-5" src="http://hexahost.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/gtf-5.jpg" alt="" width="615" height="575" /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Mysql database allotted by the hosting provider: 25</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span>FACT:</span> Mysql database used till date: 8</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The above mentioned example is just one typical example of a website hosted in a shared hosting environment. Your requirement may be different from the above, But definitely it will not be UNLIMITED?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Now answer yourself and decide your hosting plan from Hexahost / any other honest hosting provider of your choice.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span>1.<span> </span></span>How much disk space you really need?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span>2.<span> </span></span>How much traffic you really need?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span>3.<span> </span></span>How many database you really need?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Evaluate your requirements and then choose your provider and plan.</p>
